LEED buildings a growing trend in Cherokee

Another Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design-certified building is coming to Cherokee County, part of what industry experts see as a growing “green” trend.

The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners this month was presented with LEED Silver Certification for its new Administration Building and Northside Hospital-Cherokee Conference Center facility at The Bluffs in Canton.

And in Woodstock, construction is set to begin on what will be the first LEED-certified medical facility, the new offices of Woodstock ENT.

Radiant Systems expands warehouse

Alpharetta-based Radiant Systems Inc. will invest about $450,000 in an expansion of its warehouse facilities.

Radiant (NASDAQ: RADS) provides point-of-sale hardware and software products to the hospitality and retail industry.

The company plans to add 30,000 square foot of warehouse and office space.

Premier Care for Women has invested more than $600,000 in a clinic relocation and expansion.

The gynecology clinic has opened a more than 11,000-square-foot office that includes 18 exam rooms, two procedure rooms and an ultrasound and bone –density room.

Children’s Orthopaedics of Atlanta opened a new location in Marietta, Ga. Expanding to meet the needs of a growing pediatric community, this is their fifth location in Georgia. Construction management by CKW & Associates, LLC ensured the project was completed almost three weeks prior to move in and significantly under budget. Project Architect was Peacock Architect and General Contractor was Peacock Builders.

CKW was awarded CM Services for Northwestern Mutual Goodwin Wright at Phipps Tower. The project is 52,541 square feet and is projected to be completed by the end of 2010.

Lasik Vision Institute is moving into Galleria 75 with the assistance of CKW. This adds yet another Laser Eye Facility to an already deep resume for the company.

CKW continues with Phase 2 and 3 for Radiant Systems assisting with the Manufacturing relocation and construction of a Circuit Board Clean Room.

CKW & Associates announced plans for the first LEED certified building in Woodstock and the first medical facility in Cherokee County.

CKW & Associates, LLC has won the construction management job for Northwestern Mutual Goodwin Wright's new offices at Phipps Tower in Buckhead.

The new 52,542-square-feet office space represents a relocation and expansion for Goodwin Wright.
